Building MPM595 - UNIVERSITY OF PORTSMOUTH, PARK BUILDING AND ATTACHED RAILINGS AND BALUSTRADE

Portland stone building designed by G.E. Smith constructed 1903-1908. The building is marked on Ordnance Survey maps between 1910 and 1952 as the Technical Institute and Municipal Technical College. It became the Portsmouth Polytechnic physics department and a public library, and is now the University of Portsmouth department of Physics, Pharmacy and Architecture. Ornate iron railings to a semi-basement well are attached to the building on the south side, and a stone balustrade on the east.
