Full Description
Monument commemorating the former Lieutenant Govenor of Portsmouth Lieutenant-General Fitzclarence who died in 1852. Designed by J Truefitt and W B Davies and erected in 1852. The monument consists of a tapering octagonal column on a multi-stepped base and bears the following inscription:
"To Lieutenant-General Lord Frederick Fitzclarence, G.C.H., this column was erected by the inhabitants of Portsmouth to mark their sense of the many services rendered to the Borough during his command of this garrison, 1852".
