Building MPM808 - NUMBER 5 BOATHOUSE (BUILDINGS NUMBERS 1/27 AND 1/28)

Boathouse No. 5 situated on the south side of the Mast Pond in Portsmouth Dockyard. Originally built as a Masthouse in 1882, it became a boathouse and was used for repairing small boats until 1973. It housed the Mary Rose museum between 1984 and 2013, and the entrance was modified when a display window for the museum shop was added. [1] The boathouse formed one of a pair with Boathouse No. 7 (see MPM809). [2]
