Full Description
Corrugated iron fire station on cast iron framework built 1843 [1]. The building replaced a wooden water tank built by Samuel Bentham in 1801 for a salt water fire main which had been laid round the dockyard [1, 2]. The original copper weather vane which stood on the top of the tank was still preserved in the fire station in 1984 [1].
