Monument MPM936 - Wall around D-Day Museum car park

Tall red brick wall, formerly the northern perimeter wall for Southsea Castle. Built 1850/60 [1]. Loopholes were constructed in the wall c. 1940-41 [2].

Surviving section of a high brick loopholed gorge wall built c1860s to enclose the entire Southsea Castle complex which included the East and West Batteries (constructed 1863-1868) and 17 acres of land. [3, 4]
