Event/Activity EPM39 - An Archaeological Watching Brief at 72 High Street, Cosham, Portsmouth

Any archaeology that may have previously existed on the street front had been destroyed by the excavation of a basement under the most recent building on the site, which had removed the original soils to a depth of over 1.2m. Documentary research suggested that until the early 20th century, the site appeared to have been within farmland that may have once been part of a medieval open field system.
