Description

An evaluation undertaken at Farlington Reservoir in 1991, on the site where the covered reservoir at the eastern end now stands. There is very little information in the site archive, which consists of hand written notes (some of which are illegible), hand drawn sections and maps. The archive states that photographs were taken and sections drawn, but 'weather appalling so results may be mediocre'. Presumably the evaluation was undertaken in advance of the building of this section of the reservoir. One large feature containing a sherd of late Iron Age/Romano-British pottery was excavated on the extreme west of the site. The only other archaeological features recorded were the possible remains of half ploughed out barrows along the southern limit of the site.
