Shower block/shed (Building 1/95), which previously stood in Portsmouth Historic Dockyard. The building was demolished to make way for the new Mary Rose Museum.

Shower block/shed (Building 1/95), which previously stood in Portsmouth Historic Dockyard. The building was demolished to make way for the new Mary Rose Museum.

The building was constructed between 1933-1937 for use as a wash house. Original features which survived included a central skylight and tiled roof.

An architects plan of 1970 shows a central boiler house, drying rooms, oil store, and separate officer's and rating's washrooms. It is possible that the planned alterations were not completed. The door and access ramp to the north elevation, may have been added during the later 1970s.

There were few external alterations made to the building during its life time, with the exception of a bricked up window on the north elevation and repairs to the south and east elevations.
