Monument MPM1072 - St Mary's Glebeland

Three pits recorded during a watching brief in 2005. The site had probably been glebe (church) land since the medieval period, and later former part of the St Mary's Vicarage garden. It was redeveloped in 2005 and is now Bill Sargent Crescent.

A watching brief on the site during development work in 2005 revealed three pits, suggesting that the land had been used for limited pit digging and rubbish disposal.

It is likely that the site had been glebe (church) land belonging to the parish of St Mary, Portsea, since the medieval period, and it is known to have formed part of the Vicarage garden. The site was developed for housing in 2005 and is now Bill Sargent Crescent.
