Monument MPM1524 - Limestone Wall, Long Curtain

Limestone wall footing on an east-west alignment revealed during a watching brief along Pembroke Path in 2010. The wall had been built over a layer of brown silty clay loam which contained building rubble. It probably represents the remains of the 19th century revetment walls of the Long Curtain. A line of brick wall footings found approximately 90m to the South East (MPM1525) are also thought to belong to the revetment walls. It is not clear whether the use of different building materials relates to a temporal or functional difference.
