Full Description

Former ward block to the Portsea Island Union Workhouse Infirmary built in 1883, apparently to house the 'lunatic' wards for patients with mental health disorders. These wards were located in the wings of the main infirmary building prior to the construction of the new block. The workhouse infirmary later became St Mary's Hospital. The block has now been converted into private flats.
