Full Description
A brick wall was observed in test pit in the former Sainsburys car park in Commercial Road during a watching brief in 2022. The wall was sat on a concrete foundation running north-south and was encountered 0.6m below the ground surface and extended down to beyond 2.4m.
The date of the wall could not be established, but it was suggested that it may relate to the Royal Portsmouth Hospital, the National (Bell) School or 19th century terraces that previously occupied the site.
The point recorded for the location of the wall is approximate.
