Find Spot MPM2093 - Late 16th/early 17th century English Falcon cannon, Portsmouth Harbour

English cannon dating to between 1590 and 1605 recovered by grab in 2016 during the Queen Elizabeth Class Capital Dredge Project in Portsmouth Harbour.

English Falcon cannon recovered from Portsmouth Harbour. This gun has been identified as having been cast in the Kent Weald by Robert Sackville 2nd Earl of Dorset between 1590 and 1605. It is thought to be part of a small number of guns Sackville was allowed to cast for non-military use and was therefore almost certainly intended for use on a merchant ship.
