Full Description
Anchor recovered from Portsmouth Harbour during dredging. Exact type not identified. Possibly an Old Pattern Long Shank anchor, common in the late 18th and early 19th century, or an Improved Admiralty design anchor which replaced the former in 1841. Isolated find that was probably lost or abandoned.
