Building MPM489 - GREAT SALTERNS HOUSE AND ATTACHED WALLS

Great Salterns House was built in c.1820 [1]. The Great Salterns estate, including the mansion, was purchased by a surgeon called Francis Sharp in 1830 [2]. The estate was later bought by a private syndicate in 1902 and then purchased by the Portsmouth Corporation during the early 1900s [3]. Part of the house was used as a clubhouse to Portsmouth golf course from around the late-1920s/1930s. The building is currently in use as a 'Harvester' restaurant.
