Building MPM1997 - St Mary's Lodge

Former lodge (east) to the Portsea Island Union Workhouse built c1845. One of two lodges situated to the north of the main workhouse building (now St Mary's House). The west lodge is now a community centre.

1-storey building. Inward facing front has at centre a 6-panelled door set under flat stone arch with dropped keystone, flanking engaged Doric columns, entablature and open segmental pediment, brick band at frieze level. On left of building is a C20 casement set under flat brick arch. Rusticated brick quoins and projecting eaves with paired shaped brackets to each corner, hipped slated roof. Round headed sashes set under a gauged brick round arch with brick keystone, 3 to south side and 2 to north side.
