Full Description
Gas engine house built in 1904, formerly part of Portsmouth Corporation Pumping Station (see MPM). The engine house would originally have contained 3 Crossley Engines and Tongye Pumps, two of which remain. The building has been preserved as an industrial monument.
The gas engine house forms a group with the pump house, boiler house and chimney built in 1887 (see MPM556) and Engine House built in 1865 (MPM557). All of these buildings were part of the former Portsmouth Corporation Pumping Station, and have been listed.
